On a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit I tried to upgrade to 10.10 beta (on 20 September 2010).
Everything was running well until the "Configuring Grub-p..." dialog box appeared, this new dialog box was covered by the "Upgrading Ubuntu to version 10.10". I was unable to press any button in the "Configuring Grub-p..." dialog. I had interrupt the upgrade process. After the restart the system went in an unstable state / no login was possible.

I had the option [-] Terminal screen open. The last shown text was "Replacing config file /etc/default/grub with new version". In the default position ([+] Terminal) probably it would be possible to see and press the button of the Configuring Grub Dialog. But it was not possible to close the [-] Terminal anymore (probably due to the Configure Grub dialog box open).
It was not possible to move, close any of the two open windows.
It was not possible to move any of the window with Alt+F7 + keyboard/mouse.
It was only possible to enable/disable the checkbox "Continue without installing Grub..."
