Thanks for this bugreport.

The problem is indeed that it will refuse to remove kernel images on the upgrade because it has (currently) no way to know if/when the kernel was used.

Cheers,
 Michael

Why is that a problem? Of course the kernel should not be removed, but why can't it just stay around when doing the upgrade?

I attempted to reproduce this with breezy running under kvm. Apart from kvm related issues that made it difficult, I also failed to get update-manager to actually do an upgrade: archives have changed, and other stuff has probably changed, too, so nothing happened.

(Not sure if reproduction is required.)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
