Why do they not put a date on the updates that are available for download and installation in the update/package manager section of Ubuntu ?

Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean, could you be more specific.

Yes, if you look at the listing of available software updates, they give you information about the version and an extremely brief description of what the program is, but they do not give a DATE that the program file was created to distinguish it from previous updates of the same category. I like to see a date on something, so I can know how new or old it is.

P.S. - the version numbers shown on most of these updates do not have any meaning to me and I would guess to the majority of other users.

Thanks.

What date do you want?

The date the upstream version change was made? The date the package of the upstream version change was made? The date the revision of the package was made?

Either way, file a bug - this is not the correct place for feature requests or interface bug reports. File your issue in Malone and a developer will evaluate it and implement the change if they deem it desirable.

Be sure to make a well-reasoned and intelligent-sounding description of _why_ you want the dates, to help the developers make an informed decision.

My reply: Any date from the above list would be better than no date at all. Anything to let a person have a clue as to when the update was created, etc.

Thanks.
