Additional info

- /etc/fstab (after upgrade, don't know if it was changed):

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
# /dev/hdb2
UUID=d40e069b-f692-41e8-a596-7ef571f8cc52 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
# /dev/hdb6
UUID=6441b7a9-e8b7-44c0-a087-8e4b48a427b9 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec 0 0
/dev/hdd /media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto,exec 0 0

- system was upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04
- windowspartition was reacheable (mounted) before the upgrade
- after the upgrade is was hidden, and not mounted as to be seen in fstab here

So it seems somewhere in the upgrade process the partition was marked hidden, and therefore not mounted anymore.
