Yes, they were different, but from the same attempted upgrade.
The upgrade wasn't complete, but still bootable. After removing the
package atop, deleting the affected archives in /var/cache/
and a dpkg -a --configure, everything seems fine.

This was either a corrupted archive or no space left on device.
