After some troubleshooting I found Grub was loading the wrong kernal version and that prevented the system from booting. When I finally got the system up, some of my applications would not work and I had to reinstall them. Also I found that apt-get autoremove and deporphan would return an error and not complete if I used the indiana time zone settings. I had to set the time zone to europe for the above to work.
