I get past this point now, but get errors later. See Bug #155158.
A problem occured during the update. This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry.

no this doesn't help me. I am going to attempt to download the alternate
install CD and follow the directions at the bottom of this page:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading as a workaround, I will post
results.
