Yes Michael - System/Administration/Software Properties displays the mirror selection widget I'm talking about. The same dialog you get by right clicking on the update-manager notification icon and choosing 'preferences' or Settings/Repositories in Synaptic.

(I can of course choose a different mirror using 'Other', so I assume this bug is low priority)
