As far as correctly counting free space in /boot, I can't find too much that we can improve on in current UM, except that it seems to undercount KERNEL_INITRD_SIZE by about 260K per kernel afaict. The best I think I can do is bump that up to add an extra ~500K over what it's calculating now. That'll give it a little safety buffer for now.
