VERY Novice New to Kubuntu, not new though to Linux, My two favorites are Linux Mint 14 and Ubuntu 10.10 only because I don't have to make thme think, all the dumb thinking has been all automated and I didn't have to do much of anything to be online and using it. Kubuntu 10.10 so far (older download burn) is working on this T43 IBM ThinkPad 1.86Ghz 2GB Ram 15" monitor. Toshiba 40GB 5400rpm. laptop made: 12/2005 - BIOS upgrade to 2009 ver 1.30 - so the Bios makes Linux think that it is a newer laptop than it actually is.
All of my computers run XP PRo and are all max'd in upgrades. Will Not run anything higher than XP Pro, and have found that most generally to stay back several versions with Linux.

It is nice to think you're running the newest OS, but that New OS is filled with bugs that haven't been worked out yet, even though they claim it stable.

I saw nothing wrong with Ubuntu 10.10, everything worked. I made a bad mistake just after 12.15 came out and immediately upgraded to a TOTAL Nightmare! What a HUGE Mistake!!!

Slackware, same thing, Slackware 14, have yet to get it installed. And same with many new Linux distros, New is not always good.
