In case it's helpful, I just noticed this bug after having done a Crashplan restore. Against my better judement, I did a restore from 10.10 onto a 12.04 including my home directory (including hidden files). Perhaps I have updated an important config file with an outdated option and that is triggering the issue. Perhaps this is a big red herring, and the bug was there before I did the restore. Take it with a grain of salt.
