I have the same issue, with small diferences:
 - it's my external monitor that gets most mangled, but they both do
 - I use VGA port instead of displayport
 - my graphics card is: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)
