I haven't been able to reproduce it, in the past three hours. Here's what happened...

I installed the 2.6.39 r1 kernel and everything built correctly. Then I did a restart.

First, I booted into Ubuntu Classic. It was working fine until the Gnome panel service crashed, followed immediately by a Tomboy crash.

I restarted again -- this time in Unity. Then the Unity panel service crashed (with an error dialog similar to Ubuntu Classic ), so I submitted this bug report.

Afterward, I powered-down this machine, and did a cold boot. Once again, I went into Ubuntu Classic.

The panels had returned, but all of the Indicator Applets in the upper panel were missing. I reinstalled the Applets, and it hasn't crashed since.

I've also spent an hour or two in Unity, with no recurrences.

So, these might have been flukes, that were corrected by doing a power-down and cold boot.

If it happens again, I'll report back.

Thanks, for the quick reply!
