This does still occurs frequently in Ubuntu 14.10 official release with Unity 7.3.1+14.10.20141016-0ubuntu1.

Some application windows freeze and "shrink" slowly for 10-30 seconds while turning the cpu up to 100%. When these windows have reached the smallest possible size, they remain unusable. When trying to resize them to a usable size, they continue freezing and shrinking.
