Susan, there are a few simple things to check:

1. Ensure the window you have focussed does not grab all keystrokes (like VirtualBox or VMware).

2. Ensure the Ctrl+Alt+Arrow key bindings are still configured:
  (a) Run: ccsm
  (b) Go to Desktop > Desktop Wall > Bindings
  (c) Ensure "Move Left" and "Move Right" have key bindings configured still.
