Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity-place-files

While in the File or Application Places, the media keys (back/stop/pause/forward/mute/volume-down/volume-up) and my Print Screen key don't work. I press them and nothing happens. They work fine when I'm back in a normal desktop application.

This is a little unexpected and also makes it slightly annoying to file good Places bugs because I have to set up a timed screenshot from a terminal.

Gord: can you take a look? It sounds like an event routing issue, somehow similar to the issues you had between the launcher and mutter

Realistically, this is not going to work great as when your in the dash, the compwindow does a pointer grab on the keyboard. There's no way around this in the current setup, but we can fix it for Natty, so adjusting the milestone to reflect that, sorry.

Does a *grab* not a pointer grab, that wouldn't make sense.

My keyboard's Prt Scrn button works but not Alt-Prt Scrn to select a window to screen-grab. This is quite irksome for me.

Same here. Prt Scrn button works but Alt-Prt Scrn doesn't.

Adi Roiban (adiroiban) wrote :

Just after pressing the "Workspaces" button and while the workspaces are preview, pressing Print screen does not work.

This make it impossible to make a screenshot of all the workspaces.

Moving this to latest Unity as we should check for it in the new places implementation when it lands. However I am suspecting it will not be an issue as we will no longer have to do a grab on the keyboard to get input.

I just kept the Natty target active. The priority of the bug is too low to invest time on a Maverick fix at this stage.
