I am having this is something very like it too, on RC 10.10 & final release. I am running an IBM Thinkpad X31. The entire desktop restarts if I even mouse over any icon in the "dock", making it completely unusable. It is not even possible to logout; clicking on that menu causes a restart, too.

As another sufferer has commented, I don't think X is restarting, but the whole WM & desktop does. Open apps survive but as clicking on them causes a restart they are unusable.
