That's a bit complicated. But in a nutshell it already internally does what we need. Basically it has an enumeration of GUnixMountType of which it finds the right one using some heuristics and then converting the GUnixMountType to a stock icon id.
If you are asking what they do in <heuristics> I can't tell you off my mind - I don't have the glib sources available where I am...
