I'm giving up unity. It is not ready as a stable release yet and i feel that canonical should recognize this and stop force feeding unity to all ubuntu users, all newbies may run screaming back to windows after a bad experience with unity and never come back.

There are too many issues that have cost too much of my time. I've switched to gnome3 and it works like charm. As a bonus, the system seems to be more responsive as well (under unity i sometimes got short freezes for no apparent reason)
