I logged into a Unity session on a Quantal i386 system with old hardware--an Nvidia GeForce 5200 graphics card. The screen flickered yellowish, then went to black. There was no visible interface. I restarted lightdm to get back to the graphical login screen. Soon after, I found that unity-greeter had crashed. I'm guessing that this is secondary to the video incompatibility rather than the cause of it, but it is specifically the crash in unity-greeter that I'm reporting here.
