LightDM for me uses the same wallpaper in the login and lock screens that I have set for my desktop. Lock screen wallpaper seems to look the same as my desktop wallpaper. However the login screen wallpaper does not use the same "display mode" as my desktop wallpaper.

I have set my desktop wallpaper to "scale". But the login screen seems to use something else (I think it is "zoom"). This is terrible news for the look of the login screen, because with "zoom", half the wallpaper doesn't show!
