---

there is already a bug fixed about this(if it helps):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/898087

i've contacted Didier Roche ( https://launchpad.net/~didrocks ), to ask to re-open the bug #898087 in which he responded:

"The bug reappeared with a different behavior I guess, and due to another cause.
It's a different team taking care of that. The easiest would be for you to report a new bug I guess."

i asked on IRC and multiple users were having the same problem.

Thanks,
João Melo

A work-around (works for me, but barely a bug fix):
- Disable the shortcuts you set in step 3
- install compizconfig-settings-manager and compiz-plugins
- start compizconfig-settings-manager, go to "Window Management" and enable "Put"
- select Put and set your shortcuts in "Put to arbitrary viewport"
- select "Misc. Options"->"Unfocus Window"
- log out and in.

gauthier-i i've removed the duplication because i've contacted the one that fixed the other bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/898087) and he told me that the bug is not the same and to create another bug on launchpad

this bug is still present in 16.04 (naturally, as nothing has been done on it since 14.04...)

I can't believe this bug is still present in 16.04, like 2 years later :S Anyone with skill to fix it? I guess it shouldn't be the problem.

Why is there no hotkey for moving windows to other works spaces?

These instructions are not helpful for Ubuntu 16.04

https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/shell-workspaces-movewindow.html

So I can confirm that this bug still exists for 16.04.

They are not supposed to be, since they apply to the latest stable release which currently is Ubuntu 17.10. These are, though:

https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/shell-workspaces-movewindow.html

Those ways to move a window to another workspace do work.
