I really would like to have the old behavior back. I used the feature on a daily basis. Never experiences any issues with edges! Swiping at the center of the screen allowed for browsing through a list.

A usual use case was: search for an appropriate app:
search term e.g. "Recorder" in software center
Access one item, and look at the description and voting of others by swiping.
