Then I killed unity-2d-panel, and waited for it to restart. When it did, I saw the same errors described in the typescript.
So the "if the user previously logged in on 3d" may be a red herring.
I now suspect that actually it's whether it's a completely fresh install. BTW, could /tmp/unity- support- test.0 be relevant here?
