But is there nothing I can do to pin this down?
No debug printfs or something like that?
Stracing a process?
Nothing?
I do not understand the plumbing layer enough to do this on my own.
So I would need some assistance...

And shouldn't a bug be opened regarding the missing lines in /var/log/boot.log?
I assume it is an upstart bug.
Is that correct?
