For the same reason that it was removed upstream it would also be quite a nuisance to maintain this list in the Ubuntu package, but I'm not opposed to doing that as long as it's precise vendor/product lists. Juanje's approach of allowing access to all devices from a large set of vendors would also allow users raw access to e. g. Samsung USB hard disks. Also, I doubt that raw device access is of much use on phones which do not have the ADB equivalent. So for now I'll just put back the G1 rule.
