udev doesn't generate the _clashed name, iftab_helper does if the mac address of the card just added doesn't appear in /etc/iftab
Is it possible that your card doesn't have a mac address when it's inserted? I recall you're using wlan-ng? What drivers/cards are other people experiencing this bug using?
