Also when I installed kernel 2.6.20-13-generic my partitions were renamed as /dev/sdxx instead of /dev/hdxx but since 2.6.20-14-generic everything was put back as /dev/hdxx.
My motherboard is an asus A7N8X with nvidia NFORCE2 controller.
an 'fdisk -l' gives:
