Tested on Ubuntu Studio 23.10 using ubuntustudio-installer 1.9.1 from mantic-proposed:

 * Opened Patchance
 * Noted the sample rate and buffer at 1024/48000
 * Opened Ubuntu Studio Audio Configuration
 * Changed the sample rate to 512 96000
 * Change took effect immediately

Problem is resolved.
