Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I just started the client and put two folders in the Ubuntu One folder. The Tooltip tells me it's 'Updating files...' but when I left-click it, it says 'Files up to date.'

Further, after about 10 minutes of time, there is no indication on the web interface that my files are arriving. Also, the old folder deleted from my Ubuntu One in Nautilus, still exists on the web interface.

If I can be of any further help, please ask!

Regarding the time to appear the changes in the web interface, did you reload it? Sometimes it takes some moments for the information to get into the web.

I did try to reload it. I even tried a day later to be sure. I haven't used U1 since I reported the bug though, so if there are any tests you'd like me to perform now I can do that.

I restarted the machine after few days of struggling with the incident.
It updated the files after the restart. I am not sure, but I think it
stops uploading if there is a disconnection from the Internet
(obviously) and then it refuses to restart uploading from where it
stopped earlier unless a restart to the machine is performed or the
process is killed.

Tareg

Hi folks,

No precise clue on thhe How it worked again but:
-I re-installed Ubuntu 9.1 (keeping my Home partition)
-I proceed through the system update.
then I simply dropped documents in the U1 folder which appear to be working
fine.

that was two weeks ago.

Since I had no other issues despite some rude trials (hard battery
disconnection, hard Wireless system disconnection, moving files back and
fore while updating the folder...)

I'm an happy man let me say.

my issue is very similar, icon in panel is saying that files are updating, but no files in webclient view in the folder. Also All files in "Ubunto One" folder have green tick, as updated and synchronized. This is not true. In ubuntu One folder ( on my computer) if viewing through file browser, there is still button "Connect" but after pressing, nothing is happening. That's all about problem.

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. If you would like to help debug the problem that would be greatly appreciated. You can do the following in order to provide important details that will help determine the root cause of this issue?

1) Quit the Ubuntu One client

2) Open Applications->Accessories->Terminal, then run the command:
  mv ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log_old && mkdir ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log

3) Run the following to open/create this file:
gedit ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

#Add the following 2 lines to this file and save:
    [__main__]
    log_level = DEBUG

4) Open Ubuntu One Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One

5) Let Ubuntu One run for a bit, copy some files into your Ubuntu One Folder. Then attach the following logs to this bug: ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log & ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

Thank you,

There were no exceptions here for the syncdeamon, but the files didn't update. The systray icon menu said something to the effect of "updating 1 of 3 files." and stayed there. There were only 3 files, 3MB, 512kb and 300 bytes.

I had the exact same problem as ciroredfox. U1 works fine in my home computer, but not at work.
When I left-click on the icon (white cloud), it shows "files up to date", and it isn't. If I click "disconnect" (on the icon), nothing happens. If I open the folder (nautilus) it shows the button "connect", and if I click it, nothing happens.
Then I did what duanedesign suggest, and its working fine for now.
Thank you.

Jarlath,
I noticed at the time you filed the bug you were running version 1.0.2 of the ubuntuone-client. There is a newer version available. To see if you have the newer version you can run System > Administration > Update Manager and run the updates. You can double check this by opening Applications > Accessories > Terminal and running:
dpkg -l ubuntuone-client
Under version you want to see version 1.0.3 or newer.
thank you,

Jarlath,
reviewing your logs in greater detail I believe I know the problem you are having. To fix the issue could you please try the following.

1. Quit Ubuntu One (right-click the applet and select Quit)

2. Open Applications > Accessories > Terminal and run the following to quit the syncdaemon:
     u1sdtool -q

3. Now run the following in the Terminal:
     rm -rf ~/.local/share/ubuntuone/syncdaemon/trash/N

4. Now start Ubuntu One as normal (Applications > Internet > Ubunntu One). Put a file in your Ubuntu One folder to test the sync.

thank you,
duanedesign

Hi duanedesign,

I had removed U1 completely, but I've re-installed now. I followed your
steps except for #4 as the ubuntuone-client-gnome never populated the
applications menu.

Instead I ran 'ubuntuone-client-applet' from the terminal. It seems that
nothing has changed. The menu (Not the context menu, but the 'left click'
menu) of the applet always says 'Your files are up to date' and the tooltip
says 'Updating files...'

The files which I have put in to the U1 folder are not available from the
web interface.

If you would like me to do any other tests, just ask.
