This problem happens on a laptop with AMD E2 processor and video, it did not happen on desktops with Intel processors.

Therefore the direction for resolvig this should look at what id different in AMD from Intel.

Just today I received a question about bug #1319146, which details the same problem on another computer with the same results, That desktop is now working, I know not what was done to make it so but the laptop is still in need of software repair,

A kernel upgrade happened yesterday but no change in the panel or launcher, they just don't exist.

With a Gnome desktop everything works. Ihave NFS, VirtualBox, all are fine.

I do need Unity as it is nicer to use than Gnome.

Current kernel is 3.13.0.43

All suggestions in the question #258578 have been done with no change on my screen.

I just received a notice, that this bug has been declared invalid. If this is invalid as a bug... PROVE it and give me back my Unity.

I have been fighting this bug ever since I bought the laptop and no resolution has ever been provided.
