This was so long ago that I am partially guessing here, but, if I
remember correctly I believe that update manager was set to allow
automatic upgrade when a new version is released and when it tried to do
so it ran into the bug which was automatically reported. I was
oblivious to this for a while but eventually caught on. As I am on the
LTS version and will probably only upgrade when the next LTS is released
I eventually disabled the automatic upgrade option in the update manager
and have had no more issues. It updates the system now instead of
trying to upgrade to a newer version. Thanks...
