I have a new PC - Windows 10 dual boot with POP_OS!. Sadly I was not enamoured with PopOS and its offering so having used a mac for years for Web Development (Ruby) I decided to make a switch to Linux (not having used it for some 5-10 years).

I downloaded the 20.04 Fossa image, flashed a USB drive (that had been previously used for Pop_OS!), and went into machine bios to start the installation process.

Sadly I get this error [0.313120] Initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed.

I have zero ideas as to how to follow the instructions on here about fixing the image when I am on a totally different OS, and this is meant to be a clean install.

I don't even get to the live CD options to try this.

Have I done something wrong in downloading this?

I can see there are some bugs registered for this, but it seems no fix yet in the iso images that are downloaded.

I'm reasonably technical, so happy to try things.

I don't really want to go through the pain of an upgrade by installing an older version of Ubuntu or Mint. Nor do I really want to move to Fedora.

I did try all of these out in VM's before deciding to go with Ubuntu, following my not so great experience with Pop_OS!

Any help as to how to fix during install from USB-Stick booted is appreciated

Thanks
