Comment 22 for bug 210538

I started having such a problem today, notably gdmgreeter is hanging with 100% cpu usage.

An easy workaround was moving /usr/lib/gdm/gdmgreeter out of the way and restarting gdm with
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
