Hardy Alpha Release Notes have no links to daily builds

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

The Hardy Alpha 1 Release Notes do not give links to Daily and Daily-Live CD builds. As later CDs solve testing problems (not being able to boot, no xorg, etc.), giving links should help reduce the number of bugs reports on problems fixed in later releases. These should be given greater priority over the Nov.29 build. http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/alpha1

Examples of bugs fixed by recommending/using Live CDs (constantly updated):
Bug #173214
Bug #173329

Maybe this could be a launchpad of how to include Daily Builds links into the release notes:

Daily Builds

Daily CD images will soon be available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ (alternate CD) and http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ (live CD). These images get built automatically, and reflect the latest state of Hardy at build time; they are not guaranteed to be free of showstopper bugs, and they're not likely to be usable in the early stages, probably until around Alpha 1.

I have reservations about linking to the daily builds from the alpha release notes, because the alphas (and alpha release notes) are targetted for a somewhat broader audience than the dailies, and daily builds are not guaranteed to be installable at all (and in fact, often are not installable).

That certainly doesn't follow; being bootable is one of the specific things guaranteed for the alphas that's not guaranteed for daily builds.

And while a particular daily build may fix a bug of interest, each daily build is only available for download for a few days, so there are really no guarantees at all that a user will have a usable solution for a livecd problem until the next alpha.

This was definitely not the case for me, as I was not able to boot with the alpha on my Acer laptop, but was with the Dec. 2 daily build. (see Bug #173329 ). The only reason that I propose the links be put up is to give a tester another chance to test development releases if the initial release doesn't "work" for them. As stated before, this could reduce the volume of bugs reported pertaining to this issue - which is always a good thing. (see Bug #173214 )

I'm recommending that the release team adds links onto the notes (not necessarily taking over the initial release links) - to what extent, it doesn't really matter - just as long as testers know that it is an option, and can be used in place of the initial release should any problems spark up.

On the basis of Steve's comment (which I agree with) I'm going to close this bug. Thanks for the input though!
