Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork

The default theme uses a lot of spacing and large buttons, which makes it very difficult to use on small screens, e.g. 1280x800 or even 1027x768.

It would be very helpful to have a compact theme available that uses small spacings. I have created a modification of clearlooks theme that does exactly that, you can see a visual comparison here: http://martin.ankerl.com/2007/11/04/clearlooks-compact-gnome-theme/
