@seb why do you think this is an ubuntu-advantage-bug? It's software-properties-gtk that is failing the import, so either it does not have a dependency on u-a-t, or it's not versioned correctly.

@Andreas, how could it be software-properties-gtk's fault if
'from uaclient.api.u.pro.attach.magic.initiate.v1 import initiate'
is failing?

there is nothing specific to the client there, I would bet you that python3 -c 'from uaclient.api.u.pro.attach.magic.initiate.v1 import initiate' on the system would give the same error.

I would probably agree that it's not ubuntu-advantage-tools' fault though and more likely an user error unless there is a packaging bug which is why I assigned it there so it could be checked by someone who is familiar with the package but claiming it as invalid an probably an user configuration problem

This is caused by ubuntu's package uaclient having the same name as https://github.com/FreeOpcUa/opcua-client-gui Uninstalling opcua-client with pip allowed software-properties-gtk to run.

I've had opcua-client installed for a long time without any problems. It probably started here, where the Ubuntu Pro features got activated: https://git.launchpad.net/software-properties/commit/?id=1ee752c22956248ffffa8ce84c753bce32b18041

@Douglas, thanks for pointing that out! Renan made a ticket for the conflict now on https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-advantage-client/issues/2434
