Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I'm running the graphical installer on a home-built Dually AMD XP2400MP rig utilizing the MSI K7D Master Motherboard (latest BIOS) and a WD40040GB ATA HDD. The video card is a generic nVidia GForce 2MX400 with 64MB RAM. Using 1GB of NON-ECC DDR SDRAM

This is my first bug report so be gentle if I hosed it up :)

I receive the following error upon reaching the user creation step of the installer:

I same problem. I have AMD64 Athleon 512 ram Western Digital 80GB SATA. Installer crashes when trying to create a user. Claims it has already been created. Never installed linux on this machine. I erase the hard drive every time i install and still the same problem

Also have tried installing the 64 bit version as well as the 32 bit version.

The username "scanner" is reserved by the system; choose a different one. More recent versions of ubiquity warn about this. See also bug 47861.
