Bug Description
I'm trying to install Ubuntu in VMWare (v.5.5) and it continues to fail. I've tried many hardware configurations with no luck. Attached are the syslog & install files.

Thanks for reporting this. According to /var/log/partman you have 2 ext2 partitions:
/dev/hda1 320753664 -> roughly 305MB
/dev/hda6 148022784 -> roughly 141MB
Both of these are too small to hold an Ubuntu installation (you need at least 2.5GB for '/' ).
In any case, the fact that the installer does not warn that the installation will fit is also bug 48355.
