Bug Description
When installing dapper, if you choose 'root' as your username, you will not be able to log in when the install is complete. I assume this is because the root account is disabled during the install.
The installer should prevent you from using root as your username, so this issue does not show up.

Yep - this is bug 47861, and I shouldn't be too far away from a fix now.
