Thanks for your report. This looks very much like one of the effects of bug 47859; you should be able to deal with it by rebooting the live CD and then upgrading ubiquity, ubiquity-frontend-gtk, and ubiquity-ubuntu-artwork from the Ubuntu archive before running the installer.
