I was trying to install using current amd64 live cd in KVM and ubiquity has crashed at some point (probably after all files were copied)

this issue is a critical one, since it makes installations impossible!

it happened to me while installing amd64 livecd daily snapshot from 20100325 on a Asus EEE 1201N

I can confirm this bug, apport sent me here. I can attach any information necessary. Ubiquity crashes at the very end of the installation.

i have no computer available where an installation comes to the end.
i ve got this problem on dual cores intel and amd, the intel is a new fujitsu espromo

Same problem with a Dell v13. Ubiquity crashes at the end of the installation process. All the files seem to be on the hard disk, but the system is unusable, so this is a critical error.

same situation in a Virtual Box VM, with today's (26.3.2010) daily - near the end of installation you land in the "live CD" environment - and apport does its thing

Same here except I'm using vmware player 3.0.1 to do the install. 2010-03-26 daily desktop x64 cd.

Same situation. I tried
$ sudo ubiquity -d --pdb | tee debug.log
but debug.log remains empty, and was even not dropped into the python debugger

A workaround is to execute grub-install /dev/sda and reboot.

I also did an update-grub in a chroot but that printed out some errors and I guess it wasn't necessary ...

marked this as a duplicate of #549478 as it happens in the same scenario, and the underlying problem "Permission denied: '/proc/3236/environ'" is the same
