Aha. It appears I tried to install to a 1.6 GB HD and the desktop distribution requires 3 GB. Apparently I ran out of space.
Though it was a little misleading that a LiveCD of less than 700 MB was able to install and run a workable desktop environment.
I have a 1.6 TB out-of-the-box Buffalo RAID on the network, and am new to linux. Is there any easy way to use this for temporary/decompressed files using a desktop installation cd? Or should I just go ahead and install the server edition to the 1.6 GB HD, mount the RAID, and install each package I need manually?
