Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

After Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 6 was installed, the shutdown looked like a big struggle and did not succeed.
It switched between text-mode and graphics-mode each few seconds and after some time it got stuck, while the screen was shaky (background, flickering and some green). I have an nvidia-videocard and pentium 4 processor.

Hi vhindriksen,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Hi Bryce,

Since it is from a live-CD, files are not saved anywhere; or am I wrong?

Kinds regards,
Vincent Hindriksen

When my other pc is back from repairs (they say during next week) I'll have this pc available again for testing-purposes. If you can give me hints how to test shut-down-problems of the live-CD, you'll help me out with it!

I think this is essentially the same as bug 432140. You may find that it behaves a bit better with the 9.10 beta release, although I don't think it's entirely fixed yet.
