For all people whose parallel printer is not detected after a dapper installation (bug duplicates): Please do

  sudo modprobe lp
  echo lp | sudo tee -a /etc/modules

to fix it on the spot (first command) and permantently (second command). This bug is fixed for installs with current CDs.
