Same problem. Had a previously setup partition table from a Breezy/XP dual-boot machine. Got through all of the dialogs and hit "Install." It appeared to create fresh ext3 partitions on the ones I said to format (/boot, /). Then it said "Starting Partitioner" again, and exited without any message. Later inspection reveals that the installer successfully reformated the indicated partitions, but died before putting anything on them ... :)
Possibly relevant machine specs are:
MB: ECS RS480-M
HD: Seagate Barracude 250GB
