If you are installing to a raid partition, heed this:

Thanks PsYcHoK9, I forgot about that. I've been having this problem as well ever since I've used ubuntu, starting with Ubuntu 7.10.

The live install of Ubuntu 9.10 failed for me as well "ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_bootloader()".

It seems to me that a lot of people that have responded to this bug have tried to install to a raid partition. Others have not. Shouldn't there be separate bugs?

If you are trying to install to a raid array, see:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto

Also note:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto#Installing%20to%20RAID5%20array%20with%20Ubuntu%209.04%20Live%20CD
"Once dmraid is running, the live installer can handle installing to the raid. _Ubiquity will fail when installing grub_, and will not automatically add dmraid to the new installation."
