Sounds like a good idea, although I would take this time to point out that most software has "minimal requirements" and users are used to the idea that they shouldn't be installing files that are too big for their hard-drive. Fixing this would certainly help make Ubuntu easier to use. That being said, I don't know why 2.1 GB isn't big enough, considering I have a copy of gutsy running off a 2 GB flash drive with some room to spare.
