Bug Description

Hardy Heron release candidate installer partitioning broken.

may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/191577

Running the installer permanently hangs while trying to load the partitioning step of install.
However, the system>admin>Partition Editor item works correctly.
It is only the installer's partitioning that has a problem.

I can't reproduce this, when going directly into installing ubuntu (ie, not the live system first)

I've just determined that this problem only occurs when I have the external USB 2.0 hard drive plugged in. If I turn off the external drive, it loads the partitioner no problem.

As previously noted, the external is partitioned accordingly:

external HD:
/dev/sdf5 vfat (/media/VAULT_VI)
/dev/sdf1 jfs (/media/VAULT_III_plus)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 220476, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
