i manage hard disk with Gparrted and Ubuntu was intended to be installed
on one of the primary partition ( flaged as root ) Another primary was
used for windows, third was flaged as home, and 4th was swap
BUT
i don't know anymore, if problem was with ubuntu but instead in partition
table and the way BIOS was set. I tried with UEFI and gp partition table.
When i turned back to Legacy boot mode and ms partition table, and
installed ubuntu on logical partition as a part of extended all went
smooth.
Sorry i can't help more because my knowledge of Ubuntu is really modest.....
But if you hyve any kind of question i will try to answer...
and thank for replaying and working on such wonderfull thing in todays
crazy world
